Hello, families! This past week the children continued working on the jungle mural
slowly forming on the art room wall, explored gems and letters, wrote journal
stories, painted with blocks, shared artwork at circle, and engaged in a game where
they placed their hands in the Mystery Box and guessed what was inside through
the power of touch (What shape is it? Does it have round corners or sharper edges?
Is it hard or soft?). Miss Sophie (a UMass student and dance teacher at The Center)
also led the group in a movement class inspired by reptiles and frogs! Also,
everyone’s favorite book lately seems to be The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle.
This story about a chameleon that wishes to be every animal he sees at the zoo but
ultimately finds that it’s better to just be himself has the children hooked with its
funny and colorful pictures. If you haven’t read it with your child yet, check it out!
See you soon!
